You have highlighted a growing concern by commenting on handwriting. Having worked in over 53 schools since I was at CC, the primaries are excellent at supervising reading, teaching a very high standard of literacy, arithmetic and MFL (mainly, but not exclusively French and ICT, but handwitiing practice is being squeezed out, so that by the time the students come to GCSE they are nearly as obscure to decipher as hieroglyphics. It is a question that needs addressing.
